Vangelis가 작곡한 OST는 꿈을 향해 달려가는 .. 선도자의 열망을 잘 드러낸 음악이라고 평가받는다 Conquest Of Paradise(낙원의 정복자) 영화 The Conquest Of Paradise 주제곡이다. 존 글렌 감독의 [크리스토퍼 콜럼버스]와 함께 아메리카 대륙 발견 500주년을 기념하기 위해 1992년에 제작된 두 편의 콜럼버스 영화 중 하나이다.  그리스에서 태어난 Vangelis(반젤리스) 1943.3.29생 본명이 Evangelos Odyssey Papathanassiou로 4세 때부터 피아노를 연주하기 시작했고 6살 때에는 본인이 작곡한 곡으로 연주회를 가질 정도로 천재적인 음악적 재능을 보였다. 60년대 후반 그리스의 불안한 정치적 상황을 피해 프랑스 파리로 이주하여 전자 악기를 통한 음악과 사운드의 극대화에 관심을 가졌다 이 때 그는 이집트 태생인 보컬리스트 Demis Roussos와 드러머 Lucas Sideras와 함께 그 유명한 그룹 Aphrodite's Child 를 결성하고 본격적으로 대중음악 활동을 하게 되는데, 68년 파헬벨의 캐논을 변주한 Rain and Tears와 Spring, Summer, Winter And Fall을 발표하여 대성공을 거두게 되며 유럽의 각종 챠트에서 한동안 정상을 차지하게 된다 하지만, Vangelis의 너무나 강한 음악적 성향이 팀의 분열을 가져왔고 Demis Roussos와 Vangelis의 각각의 솔로 활동으로 팀은 73년 공식적으로 해산을 선언한다 해체 후 70년대에 영국으로 이주한 그는 75년 자신의 새로운 스튜디오 Nemo에서 녹음한 첫 번째 작품 Heaven And Hell은 영국챠트에서 크게 히트하며 그의 상업적인 첫 번째 성공과 함께 그를 전세계적인 명성을 알리게 하는데 커다란 역할을 한다 그 후, 여러 장의 솔로 앨범과 영화 음악을 발표한 그는 81년 영국 육상인들의 우정과 스포츠맨십을 다룬 영화 Chariot Of Fire의 사운드트랙 작업을 주도해 아카데미상을 수상하며 세계적인 명성을 얻게 된다 그는 영화 음악가로서 뿐 아니라 뛰어난 신서사이저 연주가로 프랑스의 Jaen Michel Jarre와 함께 가장 성공한 뮤지션이며,그리스인 특유의 서정성과 웅장함이 음악에 잘 배어난다는 평가를 받고 있다 Conquest Of Paradise(더 아름다운 꿈을 향하여))-Vangelis 1492 Conquest of Paradise Theme / Vangelis
